Lionel Bueno passed away in his home in France on January 24, 2015. He was born on July 9, 1945 in Angers, France and has been one of the most creative and scientifically productive minds in the field of Neurogastroenterology and Motility. He was also mentor of numerous scientists, many of whom achieved the highest levels of academic careers. The scientific community will miss him both as a scientist and a great man. ESNM will pay tribute to him by publishing an obituary in one of the next issues of Neurogastroenterology and motility. In addition, one session of the upcoming symposium of the ESNM meeting in Istanbul on intestinal pharmacology has been named after him “memorial Lionel Bueno” and colleagues from his institute will outline his life: “the creative scientist and the gentleman”. Please join us to pay tribute to this outstanding member of our community in Istanbul. Other initiative will follow to perpetuate his memory.
